BIEMH 2026 Review: Evotec's Step Up Continues in Bilbao

From March 2–6, Evotec joined manufacturers, engineers, and industry professionals from across Spain and beyond at the 33rd edition of BIEMH—the International Machine Tool Biennial in Bilbao, Spain. It was a week defined not just by machines, but by people, ideas, and a shared commitment to improving production standards on the shop floor. This year's exhibition was made possible through our collaboration with Veedor Solutions, our trusted partner in the Spanish market. Together, we brought Evotec's advanced finishing technology to Bilbao and engaged with visitors looking to elevate their production capabilities.

Four Days of Non-Stop Engagement

Located at Stand 5 F-41, our booth was busy from the moment the doors opened on Day 1. What started as a steady stream of curious visitors quickly became a packed schedule of in-depth conversations, live part testing, and technical discussions that ran from early morning until evening—every single day.

Engineers, production managers, partners, and many new faces stopped by throughout the week. Some came with specific challenges in mind; others simply wanted to see what modern finishing technology could do. All left with a clearer understanding of how automated deburring, edge rounding, and surface finishing can transform their production workflows.

What Visitors Wanted to Talk About

The conversations at BIEMH 2026 revealed a clear theme: manufacturers across Spain and Europe are actively searching for ways to achieve stable processes, better surface quality, and reduced manual labor.

Interest was especially strong around:

  • Deburring and slag removal for laser-cut and flame-cut parts
  • R2+ edge rounding to meet coating and welding preparation standards
  • Polishing and brushing for aesthetic and functional surface finishes
  • Single-pass processing to eliminate bottlenecks and reduce handling

Time and again, visitors were impressed by what they saw when our machines ran under real conditions—processing actual parts and delivering consistent, high-quality results.

We brought four machines to Bilbao, each representing a different aspect of Evotec's finishing capabilities:

  • EdgeX SDR 1300 – Our proven solution for achieving real R2+ edge rounding, combining deburring, internal chamfering, and non-directional surface finishing in one pass.
  • Surfex SRS 1300 – A three-stage configuration delivering deburring, edge rounding, and refined line-grain finishing for parts heading to coating, welding, or assembly.
  • Surfex SR 600 – A compact yet capable machine for deburring, deslagging, and non-directional grain finishing—ideal for manufacturers looking to streamline their finishing line.
  • Multiflex – Our hand-guided finishing solution, offering flexibility and operator control for edge rounding and surface treatment across a variety of part sizes.

Each machine demonstrated Evotec's core technologies in action: EvoTrack MCS intelligent control, Automated Abrasive Control, Smart Parameter Recall, and our efficient dust extraction systems—all designed to deliver repeatable quality with minimal operator effort.
