METAVAK 2026 Recap — Evotec Finishing at Stand A14

Evotec deburring machines were on show at METAVAK 2026, exhibited by Klaassen Advanced Technology from October 6 to 8 in Evenementenhal Gorinchem. At stand A14 — right at the hall entrance — the EdgeX SDR 800, the SurfeX SR 1300, and the MultiFlex stood alongside Bodor fiber lasers.

Key Takeaways

Your Laser Cuts the Shape. We Finish the Part.

Klaassen built the stand around the full process, not individual machines. A laser delivers the contour — but burrs, slag, oxide, and sharp edges still stand between a cut part and a finished one.

In many shops, that step still happens by hand with an angle grinder. Klaassen's pre-show article made the case for moving it to machines: the result becomes controlled and repeatable, and operators spend less time on heavy, repetitive grinding.

Their starting point for every conversation was the part and the production process — not how much equipment a shop could buy. For one fabricator, that means bringing laser cutting in-house for the first time. For another, it means automating the finishing work that still eats hours of manual labor.

That logic is why finishing belongs next to the laser. Add cutting capacity, and finishing has to keep pace — or it becomes the step every part waits on. For a broader look at the options, see our guide to deburring machines.

SurfeX SR 1300 — Coating-ready surfaces, without heavy deslagging

The SurfeX SR is designed for manufacturers who need clean deburring and surface refinement on parts straight from the cutting line. A drum head handles burrs and light slag. Eight rotary brushes then round the edges and leave a uniform, non-directional finish that improves paint adhesion.

The 1300 model processes parts up to 1,300 mm (51.2") wide. The SR range runs from 600 to 1,600 mm (23.6" – 63").

MultiFlex — Hand-guided finishing for complex parts

The MultiFlex gives operators mechanical support without full automation. Its grinding head carries a 150 mm (5.9") abrasive wheel on one side and brushes on the other, and rotates 180° to switch between them — no tool change.

A weight-compensated cantilever arm reduces fatigue. A vacuum platform holds parts as thin as 1 mm (0.04"). Operators produce R0.1–0.3 mm edges on outer contours and on holes, slots, and cutouts.

Which Machine Fits Which Shop

The right machine depends on your parts, your volumes, and what happens to them next.

  • SurfeX SR: your laser-cut parts carry light burrs, and the goal is a consistent, coating-ready surface with rounded edges.
  • EdgeX SDR: parts go to paint or powder coating with a defined edge spec, or carry many interior holes and slots that need chamfering.
  • MultiFlex: volumes are low, geometries are complex, or your shop is taking its first step away from the angle grinder.
  • Heavy slag on thick plate: plasma, flame, and oxyfuel cut parts call for a dedicated slag removal machine such as SlagMaster.

Still deciding? Compare automated and manual options in our deburring machine overview, or see machines built specifically for laser-cut and punched parts.

‍

Support Behind Every Machine

A finishing machine is only as good as the service behind it. In the Netherlands, Klaassen handles the full path — advice, machine selection, software, installation, and its own technical service team. Fabricators can also book a demo at Klaassen's experience center in Enschede and run their own parts.

Evotec is ISO 9001 certified, its machines carry CE marking, and every machine ships with a 3-year warranty — the first 3-year warranty in metal finishing, where 1 year is the common standard.
